Consumer's Guide to Pantone Color of the Year - Rose Quartz and Serenity
It was over a year ago I was first inspired to use Rose Quartz in a beautifully designed bedroom by Ivy Lane Living, featured in the 2015 DC Design Show House. From a designer's stand point, it seems a fair challenge to - well - to feel a sense of opposition to get a spouse on board with an undertone pink coloration as the main color inspiration for a room. After hours of product research and contemplation of the two colors chosen as one - Rose Quartz and Serenity - I've been sold on the combination. These two have been paired together naturally - through our sunrises and sunsets, and through botany - the study of plants - we find a vast array of colors ranging all over the spectrum. These colors inspire many aspects of our everyday lives in design , natural stones, weddings, clothing selections, etc.
You'll find a balance of interior selections through a multitude of vendors that inspire current selections for projects on deck. Rose Quartz gets me all excited and confident to use more of the Rose Gold finish you see in the Arteriors Bratton Chandelier or the Glass and Rose Gold Serving Cart - the Rose Gold provides a happy medium and relief between the brass, golds, and polished silvers.
Naturally, I find myself incorporating blues and greens into a lot of projects, knowing these colors ring true to be soothing for clients homes and provide designs a nice crisp, classic feel throughout. Serenity pairs beautifully with the ever so popular navy trend going on as well. I love seeing pops of navy used in mudrooms, offices, family rooms, etc or lacquered in a modern bar or kitchen.
Enjoy looking through the slides below and on Pinterest (searching Rose Quartz and Serenity), where you can find so many inspiring ways to incorporate pops of colors. As Edi Rama honestly stated "Compromise in colors is grey" and Leigh Hunt, "Colors are smiles of nature". Enjoy finding your color these next few days as we endure the 24" of predicted snow throughout the Washington, D.C. area! We are looking forward to a blanket of white, snow boots, cocktails, and a wood burning fireplace!
